Becoming a Professional Pilot- Part 2
The year was 1970 and it was time to decide on my future profession. I was contemplating on becoming a surgeon or a cruise liner captain. While contemplating I heard this whooshing during my primary school break. This whooshing sound was the sound of a jet engine. Curaçao’s national airline was ALM (Antilliaanse Luchtvaart Maatschappij or Antillean Airlines). In their aircraft fleet they had McDonald Douglas aircrafts - the so called - DC9 -15.
Unusually low this DC9 flew right overhead my school. It was then that I knew right away what my profession will be. I was very determined to become an airline pilot. Knowing what my profession would be, helped me to choose the right subjects during high school.
